The village was first mentioned in history books around 1.000 years ago. The village was then directly at the woods. After a fire the village was rebuilt downstream.

Ackenhausen had postal agency since 1891. Wilhelm Bornemann, (1891-1900) and Lina Bornemann,(1901-16) were appointed as postal agents.
